      <image:title>About - Our Founder</image:title>
      <image:caption>Welcome–My name is Bethaney and I am the founder of The Diversity Gap, a project dedicated to closing the gap between our good intentions and our impact when it comes to organizational culture and diversity. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing hundreds of thought leaders, entrepreneurs and DEI practitioners about what it takes to close diversity gaps in organizations. Here’s one of my biggest takeaways: it’s one thing to say you value diversity; it’s another thing entirely to create a culture where diverse groups of people flourish together and thrive. You can check out my findings and key leadership frameworks in my book, The Diversity Gap: Where Good Intentions Meet True Cultural Change. You can also listen to incredible conversations on this topic on archived The Diversity Gap Podcast. My work these days is focused less on traditional DEI, and more so on creating the conditions for wholeheartedness and human flourishing as a facilitator and spiritual director. You can learn more about my current offerings and explore working with me by clicking here. Glad you’re here!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Race Conscious Leadership - What is Race Conscious Leadership?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Developed by Bethaney Wilkinson, Race Conscious Leadership is the practice of cultivating an ongoing, nuanced awareness of racial history, racial identity, and racial justice in one’s organizational life. It is about interrogating the racial narratives of our formative years, deepening into the complexities of our modern racial landscape, and slowing down enough to discern our highest and best contributions to addressing the racial injustices of our time. Through education and embodiment, Race Conscious Leadership is an invitation to turn down the volume on media hot takes. It’s an invitation to root yourself more deeply into the truth of your own story and racial identity formation. It’s an invitation to create a race conscious organizational culture from a place of authenticity.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/622284341678174f6b99b992/137e2704-542e-4464-ac84-d7aaf0beca57/maryclairephoto_herringtonfarm-0012.png</image:loc>
      <image:title>Race Conscious Leadership - Why is this internal journey important?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Because if you go on this journey in an authentic way, not only are you able to create change from a place of integrity, but your racial justice work will be more effective and more sustainable for you and the people you lead. Race Conscious Leadership is for everyone. Whether you are leading a Fortune 500 company, a church, a nonprofit organization, a team of a hundred, or a family of a few—Race Conscious Leadership is for you.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Race Conscious Leadership - How is Race Conscious Leadership different from traditional diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training and resources?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Race Conscious Leadership is a way of being. It is about learning how to ask the right questions. It is about understanding one’s own racial identity journey within the context of a larger social history. It is about your values and the behaviors you adopt in your leadership practice. It’s about you. Your unique story, imprint, and specific opportunities to live towards a more racially just and equitable future. Most DEI trainings and resources are about increasing representation, i.e. “How do I diversify my team?” or they are about mitigating risk, i.e. “How do we address issues of racism and exclusion in our context?” While these are important topics, we believe that Race Conscious Leadership is an essential foundation for leaders who want to eventually integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into their organizational life.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Race Conscious Leadership - What else sets Race Conscious Leadership apart?</image:title>
      <image:caption>It is thoughtful and complex instead of overly simplistic. It is nuanced instead of locked into impossible binaries. It is rooted in history instead of in reactivity of the present moment. It is slow and methodical instead of hurried and anxious.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Growth Collective - Creating a more diverse organization is difficult work.</image:title>
      <image:caption>Creating a more diverse organization is difficult work. And when you’re the person tasked with leading the change, the work gets even more challenging. Not only are you responsible for educating others, for designing accessible DEI programs, and for strategizing for systems-wide change, but you are also tasked with navigating the complexities of your own identity and lived experiences. Far too many DEI practitioners–those with the official title and those who volunteer in this capacity– are navigating this journey alone. Far too many DEI practitioners are trying to drive organizational change without the support, encouragement, and accountability of others who understand their journey. Does this sound like you? Are you a DEI practitioner, or a volunteer DEI advocate, trying to change the world without having your own safe and constructive place to land? If so, I designed this mastermind for you, again, whether you have “DEI” in your official title or not. One of the challenges of advocating for change within an organization is feeling the pressure to perform against all odds without the resources and community you need to actually get the job done.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Alignment Sessions - Transformation Starts Here</image:title>
      <image:caption>One of the greatest challenges facing non-profit leaders is the lack of time and resources needed to create an equitable organizational culture. In between building a board, leading a team, and driving an essential mission, many non-profit leaders simply don't have the capacity to clarify their racial equity goals and build an action plan. Sound familiar? If so, this 2-hour strategy session is designed to help you move from good intentions for diversity to thoughtful, race conscious action. In an Alignment Session, we will do three things: Get crystal clear on what racial equity, justice, and diversity mean in your organizational life. Build towards alignment between your board of directors, your executive team, and your staff as it relates to your racial equity goals. Chart out a specific action plan and timeline you can put to work right away. Led by Bethaney Wilkinson, Alignment Sessions are low-investment, high impact opportunities to help you get unstuck in your DEI process. You will walk away from this time with a sharper vision and renewed hope about what is possible in your context.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Alignment Sessions - The Details</image:title>
      <image:caption>What will we do during an Alignment Session? During the Alignment Session, we will: Set specific intentions for our time so that you have a clear, guiding motivation for participating in our work Review your organization’s racial equity journey using a simple framework so that we are on the same page about what is going well and where there is room for improvement Walk through the three types of racial equity and DEI approaches organization’s use so that we can clarify which framework works in your context Identify the specific vehicles for change you can begin leveraging so that you walk away with a strategic action plan Build out a timeline, assign roles, and make commitments to getting the work done. These 2-Hour Sessions are working sessions. We will move quickly, we will make decisions, and you will be invited to commit to a way forward. These are not education or ideation sessions. These sessions are about aligned action.</image:caption>

Foundations of Race Conscious Leadership is a comprehensive, baseline course for leaders who want to more fully embody their values of justice, equity, and inclusion. Taught and developed by Bethaney Wilkinson, this course is designed for people of all racial backgrounds who are seeking thoughtful guidance on how to bring a mindful perspective on race to everything they do. When you enroll in this course, you receive access to a curated collection of engaging video and audio lessons, as well as a digital workbook and reflection guide. This course is a nuanced, trauma-informed, justice-centered learning journey.
